After years of requests, we are thrilled to announce the official publication of ALONE. This powerful, multi-award-winning sci-fi drama has captivated audiences for years, and now, for the first time, we are opening the door to productions worldwide. We are eager to collaborate with companies across the globe to share this bold, transformative story. ALONE is a fiercely feminist exploration of climate change and human resilience — and we couldn’t be more excited to invite new audiences into its world.

“Think Event Horizon crossed with Star Trek, then imagine all that played out in front of you on stage. The tension building is spot on, you're involved before you realise it (no spoilers), gripped by the story, invested in the conclusion....Like nothing we've seen on stage before"

About ALONE

329238031_728303939016736_2648272074454563989_n.jpg

ALONE is a real time character drama for two female identifying actors.

ALONE is a heart-racing, feminist sci-fi thriller that unfolds in real-time aboard a dying spacecraft. Two women—one a brilliant but overlooked scientist, the other a brilliant pilot—hold Earth’s last hope in their hands. As the ship begins to fail, so does their trust in each other, forcing them to confront not only the ticking clock but the personal fractures between them. Set against the backdrop of climate collapse, ALONE explores the silencing of female voices in STEM, the search for meaning in the face of mortality, and what it truly takes to survive. Tense, emotional, and deeply relevant—this is sci-fi at its most human.

ALONE exists as a 90 minute and a 60 minute script.

About the Playwright

Luke Thornborough is a writer and director living off-grid on Aotea (Great Barrier Island) and working for the Department of Conservation. A multi-award-winning playwright and filmmaker, his work spans theatre, film, documentary, and commercial storytelling, always rooted in human connection and environmentalism. While creating ALONE, Luke interviewed female scientists and pilots, experiences that deepened his understanding of feminism and the challenges women face in the scientific community. The process also profoundly shaped his views on climate change, ultimately inspiring him to leave the city and dedicate his life to conservation. ALONE has toured internationally for over five years, receiving critical acclaim for its emotional depth and authenticity. Its ongoing impact continues to surprise and inspire Luke, reaffirming his belief in the power of stories to transform hearts and minds. Today, he hopes ALONE will keep reaching new audiences, sparking connection, resilience, and urgent action for the planet.
